The common neem, the Indian neem, the Indian azhdarchite, or the neem tree (scientific name: Azadirachta indica) is a tree (species) belonging to the genus Neem of the family Azadiracht. It is called in India the name (village pharmacy) because it is a tree that has been known there for a very long time. It is characterized by its ability to purify the soil of salts. It is a perennial tree up to 180 years old, and its lifespan in the forest may extend to 200 years.
